How Logan Myotherapy Helps You
Logan Myotherapy is committed to providing you an exceptional health service for whatever pain, injury, or discomfort you may be experiencing. With over fourteen years experience helping a diverse range of people overcome their pain condition, we bring a wealth of knowledge, expertise and empathy to help you, even if you’ve struggled to find relief elsewhere.
Why choose myotherapy for pain relief?
Myotherapy combines the expertise of sports physiotherapist with the hands-on techniques of a remedial massage therapist, creating a powerful pain relieving approach. From advanced hands-on therapies to targeted exercises, myotherapy treatment techniques and skills are designed to accelerate healing and help you achieve long-lasting pain relief, rather than a short term fix.
Our treatment approach at Logan Myotherapy
Our preferred treatment approach is dry needling combined with a little bit of massage, stretching, and exercise. Although dry needling offers many advantages over other treatment techniques, we recognise it is not for everyone. People with certain medical conditions, such as bleeding disorders or needle phobia, may not be suitable for dry needling. For those, alternative hands-on treatment techniques are used to ensure effective care.

Pain conditions myotherapy can help with
Irrespective of the pain conditions you have been living with, we can provide highly effective solutions to relieve your pain, increase your mobility, and improve your quality of life.
Muscle Tension and Knots
Myotherapy is highly effective in treating muscle tension, knots (trigger points), and spasms, which lead to headaches, neck, shoulder, and back pain, among other issues.
Headaches & Migraines
Headaches and migraine frequency and intensity can be significantly reduced by targeting and relieving muscular tension in the head, neck, and shoulders.
Work Injuries
Pain and discomfort caused by prolonged sitting, repetitive motions, or poor ergonomics can be effectively managed with myotherapy.
Sports Injuries
Weekend warriors, gym trainers, and athletes all benefit greatly from myotherapy, as it helps both treat and prevent injuries.
Arthritis & Joint Pain
While arthritis cannot be cured by myotherapists, they can significantly alleviate pain and improve function, allowing for healthier and more comfortable movement.
Nerve Compression Pain
Nerve compression pain can be incredibly painful and disabling. Fortunately, myotherapists specialise in relieving nerve pain caused by muscular issues, such as sciatic pain.
Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
Myotherapy plays a crucial role in post-operative recovery, as it helps reduce scar tissue, improve mobility, and promote more effective tissue healing.
Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSIs)
Conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, and other repetitive strain injuries (RSIs) respond effectively to myotherapy.
Chronic Pain Management
Myotherapy can provide significant pain relief and improved function for individuals managing conditions like osteoarthritis and chronic myofascial pain syndrome.
Older Adults
Older adults benefit from reduced pain and stiffness often associated with aging, which in turn helps them maintain their mobility and independence.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long are appointments?
Allow 45-60 mins for your initial appointment which includes your assessment and treatment. Subsequent sessions are typically 30 minutes but some conditions may require longer.
How many appointments will I need?
The number of follow up appointments needed is dependent on the severity of your condition and your response to treatment. On average we see our patients 3 – 6 times.
Can I claim Private Health Rebates?
Yes. You can claim rebates for myotherapy and dry needling provided you have Myotherapy or Remedial Massage in cluded in your extras. We have a HICAPS machine to claim instant rebates from your health insurer. For self claiming purposes we email an invoice.
Is dry needling painful?
The sensation experienced during treatment can vary from person to person. Some feel a prick or twitch. Others feel nothing. The insertion of the needle into a trigger point can cause a brief cramping sensation or muscle twitch, described as a positive response that indicates the release of tension.
Are there any side effects from dry needling?
Side effects are very rare but may include:
- Temporary soreness, bruising, or minor bleeding at the needle insertion site. These side effects are usually mild and subside quickly.
- Some people feel tired, nauseous, emotional, or ‘out of it’ which is a short term reaction lasting no more than a hour or two.
- Treatment can “temporarily” make the condition worse.
- Serious complications are extremely rare but can include infection, nerve irritation, allergic reaction, or pneumothorax caused by a needle puncturing the lung.
How long will it take for my pain to heal?
How long will it take for my pain to heal?
Healing time depends on the cause and severity of the pain. Mild pain may improve within days, with 80% of pain conditions healing by itself within 12 weeks of occurence. More severe conditions may take six months or more to heal.
Healing time is influenced by:
- What you eat and how much
- Whether or not you exercise
- How much sleep you get
- Your age
- Stress, emotions, and mental health
- Smoking, alcohol consumption
- Poor lifestyle choices
Following a tailored treatment plan can help the recovery process.
Should I stop exercising if my pain hurts?
Not necessarily. Modify your exercises to avoid aggravating the pain and focus on low-impact activities. If the pain persists or worsens, stop and consult a professional for advice.
